Puppies
We will have Labrador puppies only occasionally in order to maintain the health and hunting condition of our females. We offer black and chocolate Labrador puppies. All puppies will be registerable with AKC and UKC. Our puppies are sold with Limited Registration (non-breeding), follow this link to learn more: http://www.akc.org/reg/limitedreg.cfm. Puppies will have appropriate wormings, first puppy shots, and a microchip. They will be seen by our vet, who will vaccinate them. Puppies will have 26-month genetic health guarantee. Puppies will be well socialized and introduced to wings, gunfire, and water (weather permitting). Puppies will also be introduced to cats. They learn to use a litter box and dog door to help teach them good habits of cleanliness, making crate and house training easier. Our puppies are born in our home.
If interested in a puppy, please fill out the Puppy Application below. This will help us determine the litter and puppy that will best fit your wants and needs. We start waiting lists for planned breedings and accept deposits after the pregnancy is confirmed. Deposits are required to reserve a puppy. Once the pregnancy is confirmed, those on the waiting list will be notified and given first opportunity to place a deposit. Deposits must be received within no more than 2 weeks of notification, or you will lose your place in the waiting list. Deposits are $300 and go towards the total cost of the puppy. Deposits are non-refundable unless the sex and color you desired were not produced. Deposits may be carried to the next available litter or will be forfeited. We do not allow visits to the puppies until 4 weeks of age; only deposit holders may visit the puppies. We take photos and videos of puppies and post them to our facebook page. Puppies will go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age. We feed Royal Canin Large Breed Puppy food to our puppies and recommend it.
Our puppy selection process: We select the puppies best suited for each home. Families are not allowed to select their own puppy. Why? Because as breeders, we spend countless hours with our puppies and know their temperaments well. Even if families visit puppies a time or two before pick-up, they will not be able to know the puppies as well as we, the breeders, do. We want every family to be happy with their puppy and every puppy to be happy with their new family. We do strive to produce consistent temperaments, but there are variations within each litter. Less active families would be best suited to get the couch potato puppy rather than the highest drive puppy in the litter. And hunting families need a higher drive puppy. We will not place puppies in homes where they will not be a good fit. All puppies deserve a home best suited for them where they can live a happy and fulfilled life. Poorly matched puppies are much more likely to end up being re-homed, which we never prefer. But we will always accept a puppy back at any point in its lifespan, for any reason, with no questions asked (well probably a few, but no guilting or shaming).
Don't forget to read our Picking a Puppy page.
Visitors: We only allow deposit holders to visit our litters/puppies. Why? We have multiple reasons. It is for the safety of our family and dogs. Visitors who have no stake in our dogs are less likely to be careful visiting and more likely to bring in contagious diseases from visiting multiple breeders or rescues. We are not a petting zoo, and do not allow our puppies to be handled by endless number of strangers, nor do we have time for that. This is also our home, and we prefer not to have large numbers of unnecessary visitors to our home for own safety. Allowing people to visit without having a deposit, rarely leads to a home for one of our puppies either in our experience. We do understand some people are hesitant to send a breeder money for a deposit to reserve a puppy without seeing the puppies first, which is understandable as well. But please keep our perspective in mind. We post many photos and videos of our litters and our dogs on facebook. You can follow the life of our dogs there generally. We will post breeding announcements as well. We would be happy to meet you at a dog event (show or hunt test) and speak with you and have you meet the dogs we have with us. We are also willing to Facetime or Zoom (video conference) so you can see our litters live. And we are willing to provide references of past puppy families, our veterinary clinic, and our trainer. We are always happy to answer questions by phone, email, and text as well.
